On that Monday a lot of the children received gifts from their sponsors. Three girls from COPPROME, Graciela, Lesdi, and Erika received money to go to the mall to buy whatever they need or want. I was super excited to go shopping with them. It was a side I haven't got to see in these girls. I was excited to help them shopping in anyway because I see myself as a professional shopper. Haha! They all dressed up cute and we were off to the mall. We shopped in different three stores and the girls got everything they needed and some extra money for what they wanted. Two of the girls received a little more money than the other. By the end of the shopping trip the two girls with more money helped out the other by buying her a pair of shoes and another item. These children always find a way to surprise me. They act like any other teenage girl but their willing to help one another is beautiful. The girls left the mall extremely happy.
Since we spent most of the day shopping, the rest of the day was just spent playing around.
The two girls in the photos below gained sponsors after this trip.
Like many of the other children, Stefany came from a very bad home life. Stefany's life, however, was different. Sister mentioned to me that this may be the worst case she's had in six years. You would never know that with all the smiles they bring to the orphanage. Stefany and her two brothers had to shave their heads when they arrived to COPPROME due being unsanitary. I fell in love with Stefany when my mother did her hair in those ponytails and by the end of the day her hair was in ponytails all over her head. She rocked it! She was the most perfect girl to have that crazy hairstyle going on. Stefany gained two new sponsors are my mother and Kathryn. I never asked my mother why she chose to sponsor Stefany, but I didn't really have to. If you are ever around my mother, ask to see the videos of Stefany dancing. You will more than likely understand why I didn't have to ask..... She is the most precious little girl and is now fully sponsored, YAY!
I went to Honduras as Joseph's sponsor. I came home and decided I want to sponsor Sindy. She is such a goofy and beautiful girl. I really bonded with both her and her brother, Marvin, this trip. I will explain more of why I decided to sponsor her later this week (: Stay tuned!
I've already mentioned how I love their simplicity. Well, hey... I really love it! A lot of the boys got remote control cars from their sponsors. Some lasted through the first day...and others didn't... but when they didn't make it, they will find another fun way to use the car. Right after I was done taking these photos, I accidentally stepped on Marvin's remote control car. BUT I FIXED IT. In June I fixed my camera, and this time I fixed a remote control car. I don't know who I am when I am here, but seriously I can fix anything. Haha! (exaggeration at it's all time high)
My mother, the creative woman that she is, shared her gift with all the children at COPPROME. This day they were sewing "prayer buddy" bears. Katrina wants to start showing the children ways to make a living when it is time for them to leave COPPROME. The children really enjoyed it, especailly Estaben, was was in there with my mother the whole entire time.
So I thought I was horrible at Spanish (and I am), BUT my mother speaking Spanish is the funniest. thing. ever. These children and my mother have no idea what each other are saying... but they still enjoyed her presence and learning from her.
While I was in the dining hall, I captured photos of a couple of the children hanging out. It was all play until someone passes out in a chair! Haha!
Harry says goodnight! (:
